Happy 2007

January 2nd, 2007 (worufu)

No. I am not gone. Just enjoyed holidays (one full week) including Christmas and New Year. But that also does not mean that I have been lazy those days. Expect to see some new web platform announced in the next couple of weeks (hopefully days). In the meantime you may want to check out our last company project speedcash.at (German language only). Still needs some polishing which will be done during this week and due to lateness of the mobile provider it still lacks MMS support which has to be expected right before March 2007.

Oh… now that I think of it. Did I already present to you our contribution page to our most favorite Cohen character Bruno (Funkyzeit mit Bruno)? See some clips to get an impression on how people from Austria really are.

This and that

October 20th, 2006 (worufu)

So what is keeping me busy? Basically it is our new company. Now legal things are almost through and we expect to get our commercial register entry within the next weeks. Of course pulpmedia is not new but it’s legal form will be brandnew soon. Expect to see our new webpage (which will replace the placeholder page) online within the next four weeks.
The most recent project was the Car Jet Calculator of Alpha Airways which brought us into local television too. Hooray… we are famous.
Besides the private stuff many things happened. Dr.Hu built a DataMatrix J2ME application which works like the qrcode application but with the DataMatrix.
And guess what: Adobe managed to release their Flash Player 9 for Linux.
Linux community in general is very vivid at the moment. Probably you want to read on the homepage of my favourite distribution about some new eyecandy for graphical desktops.

PS: Did I mention that we are going to Paris next wednesday. Expect some gallery update within the next two weeks.

PPS: Is it just me or did you too realize that I keep announcing things within designated time ranges too often?

Mozilla Thunderbird Calendar plugin

May 8th, 2006 (worufu)

From the Mozilla project there are several different calendar solutions available:

  • Sunbird calendar application
  • Lightning integrated calendar
  • Calendar extension

The Calendar extension is not developed any further at the moment because of resource constraints. The Mozilla Sunbird application is (at the name already unveils) a standalone application. The most interesting project for me is the Lightning integrated calendar which is a calendar extension for the Mozilla Thunderbird. On May 14th version 0.1 was released and it integrates into Thunderbird nicely. I am waiting for the future releases which will bring invitations (inactive buttons already available in sunbird), etc. which will definitely be my preferable choice instead of any MS Exchange solutions.

You can read about all the development of lightning at it’s development blog.

CSS Hacks + Filters

May 4th, 2006, last modified May 8th, 2006 (worufu)

CSS Hacks   FiltersWorking as a web developer the chance is quite little that you don’t have to deal with differences in CSS interpretation between the different browsers. This book is a great resource of workarounds to the most common problems and it is full of practical examples. Did you know that the “float” positioning elements is relative to the last parent object (e.g. surrounding DIV) which has the attribute “position: relative” set? Or did you ever want to teach Internet Explorer how to interpret the alpha values of a PNG image?
