We are back in Japan. This time for a little less than three weeks and we already enjoyed some days of that long awaited period.

The picture above was shot today when I had some time to play around with the camera while I was waiting for the new haircut of my wife to get completed (about 4 hours). It is a small square with some benches, artistic water installations and some shadow (where I had to hide to protect myself of the burning sun). The place is located between the Imperial Palace (right in the opposite direction from the presented view) and the Tokyo Station (which is behind the big buildings).

As we have internet connection right in the room I already have uploaded some photos of the first days which can be found in the photo gallery Tokyo 2007 album.

Our journey has taken us to many places already: Tokyo Disneyland, Harajuku, Shinjuku, Akihabara, Ueno (where we are staying), Saitama, etc. etc. and there is still some time left. Hooray.
The images in the gallery are just a teaser. Many great shots to follow soon.

Last week we finally were able to publish our latest project. Thanks to the trust of the customer we were able to create the full promotional range of products: The Logo, all the print products (business cards, writing paper, folders, etc.), and last but not least the website globeair.com.
It is all about a new airline starting from spring 2008 with bases in Central Europe. Don’t know the exact starting date yet but the homepage is now online which gives some information in advance. They start with two different types of airplanes. The Eclipse500 which is able to transport four passengers and the Grob spn (up to 9 passengers) which can even land on unpaved (grass) runways. I am really looking forward to see the planes taking off. Maybe we can provide some nice pictures some time.
Maybe in the meantime you would like to find out if you are a fractional or full airplane owner with the GlobeAir Indicator.

Direct access to the panorama gallery. For more technical information read on.

Recently I got excited over panorama images. As my cameras lack fisheye lenses and image stitching software I am using an open source cross-platform solution called hugin. I use hugin as frontend which allows me to use auto pano and pano tools and finally create nice tif images which can be easily used with enblend to create the final stitched image. Then as a last step I use gimp to crop the image and adjust levels, brightness, contrast, etc. At the beginning (as hugin and tools seemed quite troubling and complicated) I used the pandora combine plugin for gimp which worked nicely but as I was looking for more precision I finally figured out how to use the more advanced solution.

To celebrate hugin and tools I created a new page dedicated to panorama views where I will put the newest panorama views from time to time. The gallery uses some JavaScript (tested in Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera) to present the images nicely. The raw files of the images can be found here.

No update for a long time. Still busy at work. But business is running fine. And we managed to almost finish our website. Should be online within the next week.

Between meetings and tasks I have been spending all my spare time with getting to know the pre alpine region not far away. Luckily I was carrying a camera with me and so I can provide you with some expressions from the trips:

On Friday we will go to Portugal. Starting from Lisbon we will drive all the way to Porto and be back in about one week. I am very happy my wife managed to plan the whole trip and I am really looking forward to one week without any computer near me. We also booked our big spontaneous trip to Tokyo, Japan in autumn. Three weeks of Tokyo. That is going to be “legendary”.

In the next days I am trying to reduce the images we took (about 2000) to an amount which is web-presentable. Come again in two weeks or so to get a visual impression of our trip. Sorry… it will take that long because our company is keeping me busy since the first day of our return. But it is so good at work. Just a bit less time to hang out on my blog.

This weekend I had the chance to spend some time in the middle of the Austrian Alps. Not for holidays though but for final talks with my partners about our soon to be founded company. We stayed in a small hotel at the “Edelweißspitze” at 2571m above sea level with a great view on Austria’s highest mountain, the “Großglockner” (3798m).
