We can put an end to Word attachments

March 31st, 2006, last modified April 6th, 2006 (worufu)

As a heavy linux user I am happy that nowadays there are hardly any problems when dealing with Microsoft Windows documents but still I do not like receiving .doc attachments in my emails. Even when I am working on a Windows machine I don’t like it. That’s nothing related to Linux. This practice is just a waste of bandwith, time and money.

Skypes open source alternative

May I introduce you to the http://www.gizmoproject.com/?

I haven't tested it yet because sadly there is no Linux version available at the moment. And as the homepage claims that there will be a Linux version available in August 2005 I asked them today when the bi g day will be (as today is August 1st).

We have to wait some more weeks but I am really looking forward to test it:

“We have no date scheduled for the release right now. However, the client is almost in a workable state so expect either an alpha or a beta in the next week or two.”
